These feel-good sweet reads will certainly get you in the baking mindset. The theme of this list is the main character is involved with baking in some way. I personally enjoy reading books like this because the author usually does a great job with detailing how and why a specific item is so sentimental.

Sugar Rush by Donna Kaufman
This sweet read follows Leilani Trusdale as she goes though the learning process of opening her own bakery in a small Georgia town. The story is written in a fast pace which means it’s a perfect pick me up for a cold fall day. You will also find the characters and situations amusing, yet engaging. If you fall in love with this read, there are three more titles in the Cupcake Club series.
Sprinkle with Murder by Jenn McKinlay
Yes, this is a cozy mystery, but so many of the cozy mysteries are themed around bakeries so it only seemed appropriate to include at least one book in this list. This is also a read that could be popular for young adult readers who enjoy a good mystery.

But with developing recipes for Patrick’s cookbooks, training his sous chefs, picking out the perfect birthday gifts for his ex-mother-in-law, and dealing with the fallout from his romantic escapades, she barely has a personal life, much less time to spend with her combo platter of a mutt, Dumpling.
Then a fluke online connection brings her RJ, a transplant from Tennessee, who adds some Southern spice to her life. Suddenly Alana’s priorities shift, and Patrick—and Dumpling—find themselves facing a rival for her time and affection. Life is Sweet by Elizabeth Bass
From publisher’s website:
“Becca Hudson has come a long way since she was a tween starring in the sitcom Me Minus You, but as far as she’s concerned, she finally has her act together. She’s relocated to Leesburg, Virginia, owns a successful bakery, and has a great set of friends—even a friendly ex-husband. She ignores “Whatever Happened To?” speculation and the occasional overly obsessed fan, and flatly turns down a lucrative offer to appear on a reality show called Celebrities in Peril: Child Star Edition. She has an uncomfortable relationship with her Hollywood past, preferring to think of herself as more than a 1990s trivia question. Then one day a mysterious man appears and stirs up her past—all of it—in ways she never imagined.”

Don’t Call Me Cupcake by Tara Sheets
From publisher’s website:
“Most families have a favorite recipe or two, handed down through generations. The Holloway women are a little different. Emma Holloway, like her grandmother before her, bakes wishes into her delicious cupcakes, granting the recipient comfort, sweet dreams, or any number of good things. It’s a strange gift, but it brings only happiness. Until gorgeous, smooth-talking newcomer Hunter Kane strolls into her shop, Fairy Cakes–and Emma makes the mistake of selling him not one, but three Sweet Success cupcakes.
Hunter, it turns out, is opening a fancy new restaurant and bakery right on the waterfront–Emma’s competition. To make matters worse, the town committee has decided to split the upcoming summer festival contract between the two, forcing Emma to work with her nemesis. But she can’t afford to split her profits. The solution: create a recipe that will make Hunter leave town permanently.
The Holloway charms are powerful. But there are other kinds of magic in the world–like red-hot first kisses, secret glances, and the feeling that comes with falling truly, madly, inconveniently in love.”
The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand
From publisher’s website:
“Paris
Breathtakingly beautiful, the City of Light seduces the senses, its cobbled streets thrumming with possibility. For American Cade Corey, it’s a dream come true, if only she can get one infuriating French chocolatier to sign on the dotted line…
Chocolate
Melting, yielding yet firm, exotic, its secrets are intimately known to Sylvain Marquis. But turn them over to a brash American waving a fistful of dollars? Jamais! Not unless there’s something much more delectable on the table…
Stolen Pleasure
Whether confections taken from a locked shop or kisses in the dark, is there anything sweeter.”
